A Public Apology

Dear Magilyn and PlaidElf,

I would like to apologize for being a complete and utter dork. I went to the Blizzard store to purchase your pets, the Guardian Cub, and found that it is no longer available. They retired that pet last month on June 18th (according to a Wowhead comment).

Talk about being an inept contest host!

I have emailed you both explaining this and asking you to visit the Blizzard store to choose any other pet they offer. Please let me know which one you would like.

I am posting this here in the off chance it catches your eye before you check your emails.

Again, I am very sorry for my blunder.

In each of the photos I've posted for each month, showing what the Blizzard Store Pet would be, I've donned my best interpretations of the colors. I also tried to get the screenshots taken in a location that best suited the pet I was giving away. Hopefully you've enjoyed the photos as well as the contest.

Thank you everyone!

ROYGBiV Tmog Contest - June's Deadline

Hello all!

Today is the deadline for June's leg of the contest. You still have roughly 13 hours to get your submissions in if you have not sent them yet.

I currently have no comments on the outfits submitted yet. I have intentionally not checked my email this month to see if I have better luck making sure that every entry makes it into the contest. In the past I have failed twice at this "trying" to be organized.

You see, when I first started the contest, I was a good girl and I created folders in my email for each month. I named the folders with the month and the color figuring that would be the easiest way to keep track of the emails I would receive. I would place the emails, as I received them, in their corresponding folder.

That plan worked for the most part. One month I completely missed an entry even though it was in the correct folder. Another month I put an entry in the wrong folder. This month I decided I would do things different and not touch my email at all. Less chances of me screwing it up this time.

Tomorrow morning I will be opening my emails for the first time this month and should not miss one of them....hopefully.

Also, I've learned that my bank does not like me making purchases on the EU Blizz store. Last month one of the winners I chose lives overseas. Not knowing this, I bought the pet from the US store and sent it off. She was kind enough to let me know that I bought it at the wrong store and sent the code back to me. When I tried to purchase the pet from the EU store I could not complete the purchase. I tried a couple of times with no success.

A few days later I received a phone call from my bank. They locked my credit card because of what appeared to be "fraudulent charges". Thankfully I hadn't tried to use my card during that time. That would have been embarrassing being at the register and having my credit card not work. Eeeeek.

So, for this month I've decided to do things a little different. I am still offering up Lil' K.T. for those of you on US servers. For those of you who are not, if you win, I will allow you to browse my collection of pets and choose any level 25 pet, that can be caged and traded, as your prize. I will create a list of the level 25 pets I have, that can be caged and traded, and post it here along with the winners on the last day of the month. You can also browse through my pets on the WoW Armory. I will post the link in the winner's post as well. Or, you can choose to receive a key for the Closed Beta version of the game EverQuest Landmark. I still have two keys left.

(If you're keeping track of the keys I have, yes I "should" have three left. I broke down and used one and made an alt...lol. Damn alt-o-holicism. hahaha)

Good luck to all the entrants! I can't wait to see your submissions tomorrow.

ROYGBiV Tmog Contest - May Deadline

Hello all! I hope you are doing well.

Just a reminder that today is the final day to get your entries emailed to me.

The outfits submitted already have been amazing!

I wish all of you luck!

I have no screenshots of what I've been up to lately in Landmark. I had been working on a ski lodge/resort with some ski slopes. I ended up scrapping it (and forgetting to get screenies of it) to build something different.

I am now working on building a workshop and viewing rooms to show off my creations. I have been having loads of fun just fiddling around with different shapes and seeing what I can come up with. A lot of the things I have created can be used as wall art or as floor/wall inlays.

I am currently creating a variety of stairways. Trying to see how many different shapes I can create them in. I currently have a long, tall staircase that is in the shape of an "S". I also have a spiral staircase that is not rounded but is in the shape of a large oval....it looks really cool.

I'll get photos out soon.

My Latest EverQuest Landmark Endeavors

(Jstmel's Public Service Announcement - This page may take a while to load. It is very image heavy)

Little by little, the team at Landmark have been doing a great job at tweaking the tools we have to work with and giving us more goodies to test out and play with during the Closed Beta phase. Every week we have a patch and an occasional hotfix or two. Even with all the downtime for this, I have been having a ball.

I currently have two builds going on, in two separate locations. One is in a desert area and the other a forest area along the coast. Neither of them are finished...and I doubt they ever will. One of the cool things about this game is that if you can think it up you can more than likely build it. That means that my builds are always victim to new ideas and additions.

This also means that I have been a very busy bee. Not only am I working on two separate builds, I often tend to stop building/decorating and do a lot of experimenting to see what kinds of things I can and cannot create. The tools we have (right now) have their limitations and it's fun to try to find work arounds to them to create the ideas in our heads.

Prime example, in one of my builds I knew I wanted tunnels...curved/rounded tunnels. At first this was not a major task. It was pretty easy to design the curved straight-a-way sections and the sections that have a downward/upward slope. The bends/turns in the tunnel, however, were a different story. I spent roughly 30 hours, over the course of a week, getting a 90 degree bend to look like I pictured it in my head. The game is based on a small grid pattern and does not play well with curves. Keeping the walls and ceiling curved to where it meets the flat floor all while making a 90 degree turn almost had me pulling my hair out.

After about 4-5 different builds/attempts, just on this one section of tunnel, I finally had a finished product I was proud of. Then came the task of making it possible to edit the colors/textures of the walls and floors, while putting in a border where the walls and floors meet, all while keeping the curves nice and smooth. Again, the game does not like curves and tends to give you wonky results.

Enough of my ramblings on this. Browse the photos below to see what I have been working on. If you happen to be playing the Beta as well, feel free to stop by my homes. They are both on the server Adventure and on the island Marsh. One, Fort Thelan, is the first claim southwest of the Spire. The other, Hidden Enchantment, is due west along the coast. My toon's name is Thelandir.

ROYGBiV Tmog Contest - April's Winner(s)

Had my bank account allowed it, I would have chosen all the entries this month as winners. You all are blowing me away with the outfits you have been submitting. This month has been the best, in my eyes, thus far.

I know yellow isn't the "friendliest" color to work with. It can be either so bright that it hurts the eyes or so dull that it looks like something from a babies diaper. *blech*

But ALL of you really mastered the color yellow this month....and that made my decision extremely hard. In the end I had to go with the two outfits that jumped out at me and, in my gutt, said, "Yeah, you know I'm the one to win!".

This month's winners are:

and

Congratulations to you both!

If you missed my most recent post, I mentioned that I would be choosing two winners this month. I have some beta keys, for the game Everquest Landmark, and decided that I would offer them up as prizes in place of the Soul of the Aspects companion pet, should the winners choose.

So, Navimie and Dragonray, let me know which prize you would like. You can either post your answer in the comments section of this post or email me your choice. I will send them out as soon as I hear from you each.

I also mentioned, in my most recent post, that I would be holding an in-game contest (Lawn Darts - WoW Style) for the remaining beta keys. I have changed my mind on that, however.

I have decided that for the remainder of the ROYGBiV Tmog Contest, or until I run out of beta keys, I will be choosing two winners and giving them each the choice of a companion pet or a beta key. I chose to do that this month because the outfits submitted were so darned good I knew I would have a hard time picking just one.

(Little secret - picking two wasn't any easier)

I have a feeling, deep down in my belly, that the remaining months of the contest are not going to get any easier for me to choose just one winner. I will choose two winners from now on until I run out of beta keys.

Again, Congratulations to our winners! Below you can see, in no particular order, all of the outfits that were submitted for the month of April.

Thank you to all who have participated, and have been participating.

Every one of you did a great job!
